This physical installation is based on our D.E.P.O.T. project and materializes its core ideas through reclaimed wood. By visiting, collecting, and carefully selecting materials from a local reclaimed wood provider in Santiago, the project foregrounds processes of reuse, recovery, and transformation. The installation consists of three objects, each exploring a different way of working with the irregularities, dimensions, and textures of reused wood.
A vertical wood tower and a small tabouret experiment with notched assemblage techniques, using boards of varying sizes that interlock to form stable structures. Their construction highlights the expressive potential of uneven edges, weathered surfaces, and dimensional inconsistencies. The main piece, a compressed wood stack, brings together a diverse range of wood types and sizes, which are tightly bound by tension rods. This compression system both stabilizes the irregular elements and reveals their differences, emphasizing the structural and aesthetic possibilities embedded in reclaimed material.
