Construction waste is a significant problem for the environmental crisis, but also presents a design opportunity. What does it mean for architectural design to engage and revalue such material waste streams? We are interested in designing with dust: stone dust, brick dust, and sawdust that are usually considered unusable byproducts of the material supply chain.
Designing with Dust responds to DESIGN S/O/S call to action through direct intervention in the construction waste industry. Directly tied to the themes of BKKDW’s “Secure Domestic” and “Sustainable Future” goals, our installation creatively leverages construction waste streams toward new architectural products, and proposes a new architectural aesthetic for waste.
